TAY is the Managing Director of TheatreWorks (Singapore) which is an independent performance company and its arts space, 72-13 in Singapore. As a producer since 1989, TAY is dedicated to the development of contemporary arts in Singapore and to the evolution of an Asian identity and aesthetics of the 21st Century through a culture of differences. TAY spearheads 72-13, TheatreWorks’ centre and home which is committed to the R&D processes for the development of the arts across disciplines, cultures and languages. 72-13 aims to present innovative contemporary performances and artistic expressions that offer Singapore audiences alternatives. It is an incubator for artistic experiments for both established and emerging artists / creatives. TAY also produces The Flying Circus, a process-based programme conceived and led by ONG Keng Sen since 1996. The latest edition was in Myanmar in 2013.
TAY is also the Director of Arts Network Asia (ANA). Through the 17-year old ANA, TAY brokers greater intra-Asia dialogues and exchanges. ANA gives project grants and mobility grants to artists and cultural workers to develop connectivity and a network of dialogues within Asia. In addition, since 2012, this network has expanded to include Europe with the Creative Encounters Programme, a partnership between ANA and the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF).
