The Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre (BMEC) is committed to both the presentation and production of best practice contemporary performance. On a local level BMEC has supported Lingua Franca (dance & physical theatre) since its inception and has presented their work in the BMEC Annual Season. BMEC is a founding member of both the Roadwork and Blak Lines consortia, committed to touring adventurous, contemporary dance and theatre. In 2016 BMEC partnered with Critical Path to support two exploratory choreographic residencies with four emerging choreographers. BMEC and Critical Path have ongoing collaborative plans.

In 2017 BMEC is supporting the creative development of “”Mighty”” by Lingua Franca and presenting “”Gudirr Gudirr”” by Marrugeku. We have also hosted a visit by international dance artists Sioned Huws and Reina Kimura.
