Karilyn Brown was appointed CEO of Performing Lines in November 2013.
Prior to that, Karilyn was the General Manager of the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture from 2009, the global network of national arts councils and ministries of culture.
At the Australia Council for the Arts, Karilyn was Deputy Director, Visual Arts and Crafts Board (1988-1994) and Executive Director, Arts Development (2001-2009), responsible for national and international audience and market development strategies, as well as Australia’s participation in the Venice Biennale and the Australian Indigenous Art Commission at the Musee du quai Branly in Paris.
Karilyn was Program Manager for the 1997-2000 Olympic Arts Festivals and Paralympic Arts Festival programs with SOCOG.
Her board memberships have included ArtBank, Object Contemporary Design, Artspace, Stalker Theatre Company, Chair of the Australian Performing Arts Touring Alliance and currently a member of the NIDA Academic Board.”

Taking an adaptive rather than reactive approach, we create connections to audiences through producing and touring some of Australia’s most exciting and diverse contemporary work. This has resulted in over 450 outstanding productions across a wide range of genres, and presentations to more than 500 locations around Australia and overseas.
