Fiona Winning is currently the Head of Programming at Sydney Festival. Prior to that in 2012, Fiona worked as a writer and producer in contemporary arts, across theatre, dance and visual cultures. She curated the 2011 Australian Theatre Forum; co-convened Bundanon Trust’s Siteworks 2010–11, a conversation between artists, environmentalists and scholars; and collaborated on the development of intercultural and interdisciplinary projects by independent practitioners. From 1999–2008 Fiona was Director of Performance Space, a national contemporary arts hub based in Sydney.
Every January, Sydney Festival enlivens and transforms Sydney with a bold cultural celebration of great art and big ideas. The program is kaleidoscopic in its diversity, from burlesque, cabaret and circus, to high energy jazz, indie rock and theatre; from contemporary dance to family programs to traditional Indigenous arts practice. We present contemporary dance and dance/theatre from international and Australian choreographers and companies in traditional and other venues.
